History

The history of Chelyabinsk Forge and Press Plant began in the war years. In October 1941, Moscow Automobile Plant named after Stalin 
was evacuated to the home front. 
858 workers arrived in Chelyabinsk along with equipment and built a new plant here. On June 8, 1942, the first forging was produced 
in the forge shop, and starting from July 1, by the order of I.A. Likhachev, Director of Moscow Automobile Plant, 
Chelyabinsk Forge-and-Press Plant was set in operation. Railway and motor transport shops started working.

In 1944

Wheel shop was constructed, and in July the plant produced over 25 thousand wheels and 35 thousand tons of automotive, tractor 
and airplane forgings. 

Post-war years

New types of products were taken into production: gas-generator units for automobiles, grain-dryers, refrigerators. 
A new settlement around plant together with hospital, several drugstores were being built, kindergarten for employees’ children was open. 

The 50s

The factory continued increasing its capacities and production volumes. The spring shop and consumer goods shop were founded. 
In 1955, design office for mechanization at the head technologist’s department was created. Batch manufacturing of parts 
and units for UralZIS – 352, UralZIS – 353, and UralZIS – 355 automobiles, as well as consumer goods manufacturing, began. 
In the late fifties, along with mainline production, manufacturing of parts and units for trailed implements and agricultural machines was started. 

The 60s

Chelyabinsk Forge-and-Press Plant started modernization and reconstruction of the shops, and improvement of technological processes. 
In 1960 the second forge shop was under construction and was open in 1968. The plant manufactured over 293 new parts and assembly units. 

The 70s

In February 1971 Chelyabinsk Forge-and-Press Plant staff was awarded October Revolution Order for advanced implementation of plans 
and successful development of new kinds of products. These years service shops, forge shop were built, the first stage of wheel shop №2 
was finished. The plant built accommodation for its employees. A service centre and shops were opened, “ Chaika ” recreation centre 
and “ Volshebny gorodok” camp were constructed, Torpedo sports club started working. In 1979, manufacturing equipment shop was created. 

The 80s

Chelyabinsk Forge-and-Press Plant manufactured parts, units, semi-finished items – altogether over 548 articles. In 1982, the plant introduced 
new forms of labour organization with implementation of labour input ratio. In 1986 the factory passed to self-financing. 
At the end of the eighties Chelyabinsk Forge-and-Press Plant was disaffiliated with UralAZ Production Enterprise. 

The 90s

On December 1, 1992 Chelyabinsk Forge-and-Press Plant became open joint stock company. Shareholders elected the Board of 
Directors and General Director. Valery Karlovich Gartung became the head of the plant in autumn of 1996. 
Chelyabinsk Forge-and-Press Plant started increasing production volumes again. 
In 1998, the first pilot batch of wheels of a new type was manufactured. Production volumes continued growing. 
In the period from 2000 to 2001 alone, the commercial output increased almost twice. The factory mastered 
new management technologies. The plant annually increased sales volumes, their geography, range of products, 
and number of reliable and constant partners. 

In 2007-2009 the company got international quality certificates ISO 9001 and ISO/TS 16949:2002 for automotive industry.

Today

Chelyabinsk Forge-and-Press Plant produces: 
  • wheels;
  • stamped body parts for VAZ and Moskvich cars (fenders, roofs, doors, panels, etc.) and Ural trucks (fenders, doors, roofs); 
  • side rails for Ural and ZiL trucks; 
  • forgings and hot-stampings pipeline fittings, cars and trucks, special-purpose equipment, rolling stock, railway transport; 
  • trailers and semi-trailers for carrying pipes and forest, for short-log trucks, pole carriages, heavy-duty dump trucks 
  • and trucks with URAL, KAMAZ and IVECO chassis.
High quality of plant products was distinguished by JSC “AvtoVAZ”, Ural Automobile Plant and other prominent domestic 
automotive manufacturers.
